About the Job
SynergERP is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee financial operations across their South African and UAE entities. This hybrid role involves taking full ownership of financial reporting, budget management, annuity revenue tracking, and internal controls, while supporting strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly & annually) to management, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Oversee the preparation of financial statements in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
Analyze financial performance and proactively report on any variances.
Manage major expenditures and financial commitments.
Manage the payment processes across multiple banking platforms (SA & UAE).
Ensure audits are completed in a timely manner and collaborate with auditors to resolve any issues.
Oversee cash flow planning and ensure the availability of funds.
Manage relationships with banks, investors, and other financial institutions.
Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
Drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within the finance function.
Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with department heads.
Monitor and report on performance against budget, providing variance analysis and commentary.
Support forecasting processes and scenario planning to enable strategic decision-making.
Oversee financial administration of client subscriptions, service contracts, and project agreements.
Ensure correct recognition of revenue in line with contract terms.
Manage the renewal process, escalations, and amendments to ensure accurate billing and forecasting.
Effectively use systems and processes to ensure the streamlines processing of the above.
Track and manage recurring revenue streams, ensuring accuracy and visibility in financial reports.
Collaborate with Operations to validate retention, churn, and upsell forecasts.
Oversee accounts receivable function, credit control, and cash collection processes.
Maintain accurate cash flow forecasts, ensuring working capital adequacy.
Monitor aged debt and take corrective actions where needed.
Manage financial operations and consolidations across multiple legal entities and currencies (ZAR, AED, USD, etc.).
Ensure intercompany transactions and eliminations are properly recorded and reconciled.
Manage the company’s relationship with relevant UAE authorities to ensure ongoing compliance with business registration, licensing, and operational requirements.
Oversee processes related to employee visa applications, renewals, cancellations, and related documentation to maintain legal workforce compliance in the region.
Manage and mentor the finance team, setting clear objectives and KPIs.
Promote continuous improvement of people and processes, efficiency, and accountability within the team.
Facilitate skills development and succession planning.
Foster a high-performance culture within the finance department.
Ensure financial information is updated and reporting is easily accessible and understandable to assist HOD’s with financial performance insights.
Act as a finance business partner, supporting informed operational decisions across sales, delivery, and support teams.
Prepare and submit financial packs and commentary in line with Alviva Group reporting standards and timelines.
Liaise with group finance teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
Identify and mitigate financial, compliance, and operational risks.
Maintain appropriate insurance coverage, internal controls, and approval frameworks.
Ensure adherence to company policies, delegations of authority, and best practices.
Champion continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
Identify & introduce Automation initiatives across systems & processes.
Leverage ERP and reporting platforms to enhance efficiency and data quality.
Work closely with the HR & Talent team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll across all entities and jurisdictions.
Support cost-to-company analysis, employee benefit administration, headcount budgeting, and payroll reconciliations.
Provide financial insight into workforce planning, incentives, and employee-related reporting.
Support the Information Officer in ensuring compliance with data protection legislation (e.g. POPIA, GDPR where applicable).
Maintain and update the company’s PAIA and POPIA manuals, privacy notices, and records of processing activities.
Assist with the handling of data subject access requests, privacy complaints, and data breach responses.
Work with internal teams (HR, IT, Operations) to ensure proper handling of personal information and implementation of privacy controls.
Contribute to employee awareness and training initiatives related to data privacy and information security.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required).
Proven experience managing a finance team (5 years+), with the ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing individuals in a fast-paced, professional services environment.
Proven track record of finance process improvement to ensure effective processing of financial information, ensuring accuracy and completeness thereof.
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, and tax regulations, including statutory compliance in South Africa (required).
Demonstrated excellence in financial reporting, including consolidated group reporting, departmental-level insights, and variance analysis.
Experience with budget formulation, forecasting, and financial planning in a project- and annuity-based revenue environment.
Proficient in cash flow management, debtor oversight, and cost control practices.
Experience with subscription/contract billing models and revenue recognition principles (e.g. IFRS 15).
Hands-on experience in multi-company, multi-currency environments, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
Experience collaborating with HR teams on payroll, headcount budgeting, and employment-related compliance.
A postgraduate qualification or professional designation (e.g. CIMA, SAICA, ACCA) is advantageous.
Including statutory compliance in the UAE (advantageous).
Working knowledge of ERP and financial systems such as Sage X3, Sage Intacct, Finnivo, and TreasuryOne (advantageous).
Understanding of data privacy and information governance responsibilities; experience fulfilling duties as or supporting an Information Officer/Deputy Information Officer (advantageous).
