Risk Officer – Mining

Hire Resolve’s client, a reputable mining company in the Northern Cape, is looking for an experienced Risk Officer to join their team. This permanent position involves conducting regular risk assessments, monitoring compliance, developing risk management policies, and collaborating with departments to identify and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular risk assessments across mining operations to identify potential hazards and evaluate existing controls.
Monitor compliance with safety, environmental, and legal regulations, and report deviations.
Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures tailored to mining activities.
Collaborate with various departments to identify operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Facilitate incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
Provide risk awareness training and promote a risk-conscious culture among employees.
Maintain a risk register and ensure timely updates reflecting current risk exposures and control measures.
Support emergency response planning and ensure alignment with identified risks.
Prepare detailed risk reports for senior management and participate in audits and inspections.
Analyze data trends to forecast potential risks and propose proactive solutions.

Requirements

Grade 12.
Certificate in Risk Management.
Certificate in ISO Internal Auditing, Introduction to ISO 9001, 45001 & 14001 series of standards.
SAMTRAC/COMSOC 1 & 2.
Risk Management ISO 31000 certificate (Advantageous).
Minimum 5 years’ SHERQ experience.
Valid Driver’s License.
